Canada was formed in 1867, and maintained at least partial dependency on the British Empire until 1930, when the nation began to break up. The secession of the République de Quebec and the land-grabs of what would become Pacifica, the People's Collective and the Industrial States of America forced the British government to declare a new nation - the Protectorate of Ontario - to try and salvage their dominion. The gesture worked, backed up as it was by two full wings of the Royal Air Force.
