Based in Bremen, Germany, Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau AG is one of the newest players in the world of combat aircraft manufacture. In 1931, under government pressure, Focke-Wulf merged with Albatros-Flugzeugwerke of Berlin, and almost immediately launched the Höllenhund project, which lead to the Fw 193 Hellhound fighter.
Focke-Wulf is currently engaged in a ferocious rivalry with Messerschmitt over supply to the Luftwaffe, and it is possible that the export supply of its aircraft will dry up as it focuses ever more on the growing conflict in Europe.
