Loyle "Show Stopper" Crawford joined the Empire State elite society while still young. The Crawfords family, one of the wealthier in New York City, was successful in the publishing and advertising markets. Crawford, the nephew of Bryce Crawford, attended Yale and spent a year involved in the family business after graduation. Due to his family's prominence, Crawford was accepted into the Broadway Bombers when he signed up for a tour of duty in the Empire State's militia in his late 20s. The Broadway Bombers were the best pilots the Empire State had and Crawford fit in well, although he was occasionally dressed-down from flight instructors for violation of safety rules. He earned the nickname "Show Stopper" for his fast, ruthless, efficient, and effective combat style.[1]
